Pods, Seats, and Drafts

While most tournaments follow constructed formats in the Swiss environment, some organize players into pods for a portion of the tournament. Melee supports this feature, but it’s crucial to follow the right order.

  1. Phase Creation. In the Phases tab, indicate phases to be paired in pods. Add or edit a phase, specifying the required pod size (usually 8) under the Pods heading.
  2. Podded Phases: In the Podded Phases tab, select the relevant phase, and use the Pods Actions button to Generate Pods. This sorts players into pods based on their Swiss record.
  3. Seating Options: In the Seatings tab, you’ll find buttons for Draft, Build, and Players Meeting. Each type functions differently.
    • Build: Semi-random seating for deck-building, separating players who drafted together.
    • Draft: Seating for an 8-player draft, with players divided into pods based on Swiss record.
    • Players Meeting: Identifies no-show players by seating alphabetically.
  4. Seatings: Export pods as a .csv file using the Pods Actions button.

To print materials related to Podded Phases or Seatings, generate all potential seatings for the phase (e.g., both Draft and Build seats) to print Build Seats by Name or Draft Pods Slips.
