It is not possible for players to register themselves for tournaments that have already started though Melee offers you the ability to enroll them yourselves.

Late Enrollment Process

1. Enroll the player into the tournament
2. Set their status to “Active”
3. Open up the Edit Matches screen
4. Make the appropriate adjustments by matching the player against another player or giving them a loss or bye

Best Practices

• Avoid automatically giving late players a win (bye).
• If the round hasn’t started, consider breaking up an existing pair to accommodate a late player.
• If the round is underway, consult with officials for the best resolution, potentially issuing an automatic loss.
• Consult with game officials or the tournament head official for guidance in handling late enrollments.
