Mass Data Importing

Tournament organizers who host large tournaments have access to special import tools which allow them to import players and other data points into Melee. This tool serves to import a large quantities of data into Melee at once, including account creation for email addresses that did not have Melee accounts. Please reach out to the Melee team if you are interested in gaining access to this tool.

First of all, using your player registration data, create a file (ideally .csv) with the requisite player data.

  • Required columns: Email, FirstName, LastName.
  • Optional columns: MtgoScrenName, Status, UserName, WizardsAccountDisplayName.

Example with only the required columns

EmailFirstNameLastName
a@a.comAaronAaronson
b@b.comBlakeBlakeson
c@c.comCharlieCharlieson
d@d.comDaveDaveson
e@e.comEricaEricasdottir
f@f.comFrancescaFrancescasdottir
g@g.comGeorgiaGeorgiasdottir
h@h.comHarryHarryson
i@i.comIvyIvysdottir

Access the Import File wizard from Players > Import players. Select the file with your player data and click Preview Import Data. You should be shown a table with the columns you selected.

When you have reviewed that the data looks complete, click Move to Confirmation.

You should be shown the total number of records in your file (which you can confirm with your own registration numbers). Check the two boxes that indicate player consent and that you’re about to import the full data, and then Import this Data.

For each email that has an associated Melee account matching the data, they will be enrolled in the tournament. For each email that doesn’t have an associated Melee account, one will be created for them, they will also be enrolled, and an email sent with steps to finalize their Melee account.
