Using Player Data Requirements

Player Data Requirements are defined as any information you require your players to share with you when they are registering for your tournaments. The options for setting Player Data Requirements can be found on the Tournament Edit page when setting up your tournament. Once a player registers for a tournament that has Data Requirements set, you’ll be able to access that information from the Player Card.

Team Tournaments

Player Data Requirements are most often used to get permission from your players to gain access to a player’s email address. Custom Metadata, however, can be used for a variety of things.

Melee currently does not support team tournaments, but that has not stopped Organizers from running them by utilizing Custom Metadata. You can create metadata records for a Teammate’s Name and another for their email address. That way the “captain” who is signing up  will be able to share their teammate’s information with you.

Get Creative With Metadata

Custom Metadata can be used for a variety of purposes such as where your players are from, what’s their favorite formats, and other games they play. You can use these fields to learn more about your customers so you can provide them with the best experience possible.
