The check-in feature was designed for use in online tournaments, allowing remote players to let staff know they are online and ready for the event to begin. It should not typically be used for in-person tournaments.
The benefits to online events can quickly become risks for an in-person event, especially if the waitlist is enabled. It is possible to repair a tournament after round 1 if the wrong settings were chosen, but is time intensive and should be avoided. If you need assistance with this, please contact us at contact@melee.gg.
If check-in and waitlist are both enabled
When round 1 is paired, anyone not checked-in will be automatically dropped and their spots in the pairings will be filled with people from the top of the waitlist, filling the event to its player cap.
If check-in is enabled and waitlist is disabled
When round 1 is paired, anyone not checked-in will be dropped and the rest of the players will be paired.

Note: Waitlist is not available if check-in is disabled.
